All right, Thursday....afternoon

 

I was just sick into my mouth!

 

Built this in the 70's and got £500 when I sold it.
Based on 1959 Beetle chassis..
It was an LDV from G.P. Speed Shop Isleworth Middx
Put a 1600 TL engine in it and would lose Ford Capris.
I dropped the rear spline a full notch and it stuck to the road like a leech.
Wolfies on the the rear with Jag XJS tyres and type 3 165x15's on the front end.

A friend at school built something very similar. Did you have to cut a V out of the floorplan?

 

No mine was a long wheelbase.
Most "true" buggys had about a foot cut out of the chassis, therefore you had the pain of altering cable lengths etc.
Also they were a bit twitchy on the road..
Mine didn't have a lot of clearance so wasn't really suitable for dune hopping.

Looked at the pic again, saw it was a long wheelbase. The shorter ones looked better, IMHO. My mate drove his into a fence

 

Looks .....interesting.... Description on eBay form says it's got aircon ...a real luxury vehicle!
