I have five and the oldest one I have 9 years and it’s never missed a second, neither have any of the others . Luck of the drawer maybe?
The first one is in the drawer and funnily enough has kept going without sunlight after restarting itself one day! I do like the concept of non reliability on replacement components. Or made to last as some might say.
I had a nice TAG watch for 16 years, then on my wedding day I was given a watch that I’d seen in Florence by the wife, a MomoDesign. Two and a half years later my dad died and left me his Rolex - I took it off his arm minutes after he passed. My marriage was already on its last legs by then too and she was gone a few weeks later. That was shortly followed by the wedding watch metal strap breaking, which I thought was appropriate! Couldn’t get a replacement strap to fit it but while searching I found another Momo watch I liked, and that started off a small collection of them. And a couple of Russian cheapo old military watches and a Seiko or two. As I felt my older brother - who has kids to pass it on to - would have liked Dad’s Rolex we take turns with it. At random birthdays or Christmas we wrap it up and give it back and forth. It’s a nice bond in a way. I never wear it but Bro does. I also got a discrete tattoo a year after Dad went, just to remind me of life’s ups and downs. It’s not of a watch though. My old TAG I gave to a friend who has been my guardian angel. She never wears it! She worries about it cos it’s a bit expensive, but I used to wear it wakeboarding, cycling, climbing even when I forgot to take it off, it’s pretty bomb proof! Now I have a Suunto for sports. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
