  1. so as some may remember I wrote off my works van a fee weeks ago . A mate let me borrow his van for work but he needed it back for this weekend .
So I thought yeah no problem il take the bus to work on sat .
I drove to the petrol station this morning with my work head on......................& put £20 worth of diesel in the bus :(

I realized as I was putting the fuel nozzel back on the pump ....shizer I thought .
I drove 10 yards out of the garage . I'm now sat here draining the tank .
I went back to the garage and anounced that I had a problem with my fuel line (lies) & they bought the story . I'm now hoping that the 10 yards I drove hasn't done and major damage

I am the most stupid ***** ever

you ain't the 1st and won't be the last, no damage will occour after a short distance like that - you will still have been running on what was in the lines.....post me the diesel though won't you?

  3. OMG thats my worst fear, with me swopping Bugs like i did, going from Deisl to petrol, i would always stand there double check.. hope it will be okies for you :)

  4. Good luck with the draining. I constantly panic about putting the wrong fuel in as I'm constantly swapping between our cars that run off different things.

Oops. You shouldn't have caused any damage though. We've had cars in the garage with this. Usually all that needs sorting is a change of the a sensor or other such small electrical item. The bus will be fine.

  7. oh dear, i think the only damage you would have caused will be to your bank balance and your pride ;)

  8. I filled a diesel tank with petrol once, it was a quarter full at the time, so I drove it, when I have sued a quarter I refilled with diesel, I kept doing this and all was fine, i think thats ok as petrol still combusts under pressure but just at a dif temp ...........rick, is that the case mate ?

  9. I've put a tenners worth of diesel in my bay before. Just topped up with petrol afterwards and ran it. No problems apart from a James Bond style smokescreen for a few miles.

Bummer :( Hope you get it sorted mate!

  12. Update : I drained the tank , put another £20 petrol in . iv drove 20 miles and no problems so far

  13. in an old style petrol engine diesel will smoke like hell but no real damage
putting petrol in a modern diesel engine is the killer and can cost thousands to put right

  15. Didn't older diesels run better in the winter with a bit of petrol added, to stop waxing? or is that an old wives tale?

in the warm weather older diesels will run on virtually anything to be honest, i have been to lidl and purchased 30 litres of the cheapest crappest cooking oil and put it in my 69 landy along with 30 litres of diesel and it ran fine - but yes it does smell, and i know before anyone starts it's illegal if you don't pay the vat to use it as road fuel blah blah blah........jeez you'll be saying red is illegal soon....

  19. in my opinion its your vehicle you should be able to power it in whatever way you can
farmers can use red diesel....are you not farming if your growing a radish in a window box?? :p :p lol
