I’m not sure whether I’m fortunate or unfortunate

As a trucker in the vital food chain sector. On one hand I am out and about ( more than happy to do my bit btw ) on the other hand I’m concerned I’m at more risk by being out and about and more than a bit concerned I may contact it and not know until after I’ve been home for the weekend and infected the family.

I am doing all the right hand washing/ social distancing thing and wear disposable gloves, but it is still a worry.

    Trucking eh, what a job!

  3. It's like Russian roulette eh Malc. Plus side, roads are a lot quieter, although, it has to be said, the standard in driving is still pants.

Thank you Matt. I think the reason I posted is exactly that, taking enough care to protect my family, but unsure it’s clear how to or if I’m jeopardising therm more.

Not putting down what your doing but Surely you’re very low risk, your sat in your own space, you deal with remote farmers that you still can keep your 2m distance from them, then the drop off point should have systems in place that means your not in contact with people.

your biggest risk is probably filling with fuel and using toilets or don’t tuck drivers just use a bottle.

  9. I think many of us are in similar situation so understand the predicament. wife works in NHS and I could called in to help in store (food retail). I think you just need to take sensible precautions.

Stay healthy Malc . You work in the food supply chain so essential. Also, if you popping up this way I’ll have a bag of self raising please :)

I just hope all the truckers after all this will receive a lot more respect for the job they do in supplying the country it's desperate needs .
It's far from being an easy job 3 oclock starts in morn ...negotiating hectic roads and waspy car drivers .

  17. You’ve just got to keep taking precautions, hope you stay safe.

I was worried working on the weighbridge at my place on Thursday, with the thought of dealing with drivers from Europe, I then came down with symptoms on Friday, so am on 14 days isolation, but will be back working afterwards as my industry is classed as food manufacturing

I feel brighter today but I don't think I'll fully shake it off for another week.
