It's been a long time since the last post, but i'm all fired up for the new season. I even saw the sun last night. Pity it's raining now but never mind. The JK cover is off and the tax disc is in the post. Huey has stayed very dry this winter so i'm pleased about that.

I've collected some goodies over the winter and am going to have a go at making my own door panels.

got the cd player from halfords. It was the easter special. £45 plus i got a £10 off my next purchase. Even better they gave me the wrong set. This one should have been £170 reduced to £70.

The AA and RAC badges are unused from the 70's. Bought off ebay.

Old door cards are poor and i've never had a side door trim. The tailgate trim is made from mdf and not very strong so i've started to make my own. £10 for a sheet of 3.4mm plywood 8 feet x 4 feet. £45 for 3 meters of good quality vinyl which is a perfect match for my leather seats.

made tail gate and slider panels. very happy with results. i had some chrome clips from jk but couldn't use them because panels were too thick after the vinyl was stuck on. cutting the wood was the hardest part. i've never done this before but was happy the way the vinyl stretched around the corners. used spray glue . very messy but very strong.

the front doors are going to take a bit longer to do. you have to be 100% accurate when cutting the holes for the door handles etc.
    Lots of trial and error.

this has been bugging me for a long time so treated myself to a new stat from vwh. it's for a 1600 but better than non at all.

Fitted tonight then went for a 10 min road test. Working fine.

you can see the flaps fully open here after test drive. They were fully shut when i fitted new stat.

next job. I've modified this bugpack breather so it is now fully sealed ( not vented to atmosphere ) I'm going to run the engine breather in to the middle, then a pipe out to each carb top.

Thanks Para, after all the hard work this is the kind of job where you can just potter on at leisure and enjoy. You'll be at that stage soon. I havn't the patients that you have though.
