How to fit a radiator?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by julesd, Nov 18, 2019.

  1. Almost seriously, guys... why is my van so cold? Can I somehow fit a boiler and radiators?

  2. Is your heating system connected ;)?

  3. I think someone must have unplugged it.

  4. Nothing to unplug ;). Is everything present under the van? Have you got j-tubes on the engine instead of heat exchangers?

  5. i genuinely do think the flaps on my heat exchangers need re-attaching to the cable, but tonight has been the first night i have noticed it being this cold this year too... i had a go in a modern car in the week and that was lovely and warm.

  6. If the h/e flaps don’t open, you won’t have any heat ;)

Had a problem with cable on one -Tywrapped now good

  8. Get yourself some Lidl heated seat covers for £9 each.

    Capture that menopause feeling!

  9. Even connected they are pants - but people were harder back then, so a slight whiff of heated air was deemed to be 'bloody luxury lad' .

  10. Just turn on the gas ring. :)

  11. 12volt heater demister plugged into fag lighter! (if you have one). Some on ebay £8.99.

  12. Flaps and menopause in the same thread. This could go downhill. Nothing new there then

Mine are currently in "winter mode", also known as cable tied open.
I couldn't get one of the cables through the pipe as it was jamming up against something :(. No amount of pushing would get it through. I might try grinding down the metal end of the cable to see if I can get it through.

I'm pretty sure I've seen someone that fitted one to the passenger seat area of a bay with the chimney out the window?

  17. I've actually got one these in my van in case the Webasto fails - to stick in the walk through on low with the quarter lights cracked open to vent it.

  18. Just have to light it half an hour before you leave - then drive around in your underpants.

Check out the Chinese diesel heater threads. I’m using one in my beetle. Fantastic and less than £100 at the minute.

  20. Got a ceramic element one last winter - useless.

Don't know why they can't make something more viable as a heater when you can get a 12v cigarette lighter to glow red hot and a 12v mini kettle element to boil water.
