how much paint

  1. Sure this must have come up loads of times, but if you search it ignores the words "how much" and gives several million articles with the word paint in them.

Anyway I'm doing a bottom half external repaint, and reckon on 5 litres of cellulose top coat. Is it enough? I did the top last year and barely had enough and don't want to get caught again.

  2. Order more than you need. 5 litres probably about right, but does not sound enough if you are going to put a decent number of layers on and of course your spraying style? Is it being being done in a garage or outside? If outside a lot will be lost around you due to wind etc. Mix up more than you think and you have it for future touch up if needed later on. People winge about celly going off after X number of years but I never had any issues with mine.

PS dont buy it from Paints4u - the stuff I received was p*** water and not even a full 1/2 litre can!

  3. I normally get 3l of 2k, which gives you 4.5l once the hardener is added... so 5l is about right for celly

  4. Many thanks - I used Autopaints Brighton last year. The paint was fine but pretty expensive. I was going to get my top coat from Autopaint St Helens this time.

I've got some epoxy primer from Paints4u which I'm about to use. They do cellulose but also charge a lot compared to St Helens.

  5. How much is a lot? Paint isn't exactly cheap ;)

  6. Agreed it has gone really expensive over the past few years but then again why did you go for a bay if you did not expect to spend money on it? I keep saying they are rot box money pitts and they are. I love mine but even I have doubts keeping it!

  7. I've seen 2k colour for as much as £45 per liter... more if you want specialist colours!!

  8. £39/litre vs £17. Delivery would be free in first instance for 5 litres but unless there's something in the small print they're still a long way apart.

  9. £17p/l for celly is what it should be

£39p/l is taking the pee o_O
