While I'm at it, yet another moan about parts. Bought a new oil pump to replace the one that "broke" (due to poor parts) This time I GENTLY tried it and lo! It didn't fit! This being the reason. At least I noticed this time and ground a couple of mil off the end of the gear shaft.
The PO had helicoiled the sump plug with an obscure thread, that's the bolt that fits. It's an M14 but very coarse so re helicoiling wasn't an option. Short of welding it up and starting again I figured this option was : A) working B) nearly new C) free!
Alternator hangs off the fan housing, but there is also a bracket that goes between the fan housing and the heat exchanger that the alternator adjustor bolt goes on on. Do you need that bracket as I think I have a spare? Might also have a spring clip for the breather box. Will have a look.
I must get some pictures under and around Ted so I can see what Bill is missing. I definitely don't have those bits Nick.
I've got the bracket for the alternator if you want it. It's the U bracket that goes on the fan shroud
That'd be great, I'm determined to get this built for Johann when he gets back from SA. It'll be his (and therefore my daughter's) start in life if I get it right.
Afraid I can't find a breather clip - have a horrible feeling I threw it away I do however have an alternator bracket that goes between the fan shroud and heat exchanger - which is yours for free is you want to pick it up when passing sometime Fits roughly like this: The bracket @Razzyh has is I think the one that the bottom left bolt on the alternator goes through. Do you want more photos showing how the alternator fits? I need to take mine out of the van again tomorrow and so can take some more pics as I go
