How important to check ring gap

    Despite assurances from AA that all would be good, I have decided to strip the engine and check the gaps. I can’t see the correct sizes anywhere for a stock 1600 anywhere. Can anyone help please?

  7. about .004" for every inch of bore.... domestic. Not metric...

  8. Weren't you on AA pistons... their gaps could well be different to stock VW.. and depending on type material ring distance from crown etc

    They quoted me

    "They try to get them all set up on .0045” per inch for the top ring and .004” per inch on the 2nd"
