How does this seat attach?!

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by nobayinhell, Feb 15, 2019.

  1. I have a front bench seat and am a bit puzzled as to how to fit it. My '72 has the normal passenger seat "hooks" to clip the tubular seat frame into. The M501 brackets I have seen have an additional "hook" of the same type to secure the drivers side of the bench seat. However, my seat doesn't have a tubular frame and has some weird pins on the backrest. Presumably I have the wrong seat for my bus, but does anyone know how my type of bench seat is supposed to be fitted?

  4. Does anyone recognise the pin type of bracket on the backrest? I haven't come across them before - some kind of prototype fitting? @davidoft your a bit of a seat expert aren't you? ;)

I think perhaps they are for full bulkhead vans as those pins sit higher than a normal bulk head

Possibly as Davidoft says. I haven't seen that type of attachment before.

  7. Thanks. I guess i will grind them off and weld a plate on for the normal hook and bracket type arrangement then.

Or find out how they're suppose to fit and weld the appropriate piece on to the bulkhead.

You may need to add a bit to the seat as the hooks attach further down

  10. I could do, but I have done quite a bit of research and haven't come across any images of this type of fixing thus far.

  11. Thanks. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of the back of a "normal" 2/3 front bench seat would you?

Possibly for the rear seat of a double (crew) cab.

Will have a look at mine for you later.

  14. It’s from a single cab pickup truck. I have one the same which I’m converting to ‘normal’ bulkhead attachment methods when I get round to it.

  15. Thanks for confirming. I will grind the pins off and weld a flat bar on the back to fit the normal hook arrangement on.
