It wasn't Steve , but yep , same here :)

  2. i leave mine unlocked with a used condom on the steering wheel and skid marks on the drivers seat. No problems so far

  3. I'd say this (genuinely) is a major concern. I've had to shoo travelling gentlemen out of my drive, which is a worry.

  4. I'm still giggling as well. God, I'm so juvenile...

  5. with you on that Snotty, in other days I had the big house the garage and was working on surrounding wall (was summer) dude shows up asking if I wished front court tarmacked ,I informed said dude I done all my own work, thanks ,then bloke looked into my garage, seen my seriously crazy(read expensive) motorbike and prob didn't miss my weightlifting kit /tools /sound system and I ,(perhaps guilty of "Daily fail" assumptions ?)thought "oh ,flip" >not helped by said dude asking if I owned same and if any of it was for sale ? and yes ,despite my rantings re "we are all equal" >>Q serious upgrade of security ! (it ended well, missus divorced me and copped the lot ,that's ,all of it !) you got to laff !

  6. I don't think you have to read the Daily Fail to have a dim view of travelling gentlemen. My experience of them has always been somewhat less than positive...

  7. Consider yourself lucky for being able to insure such an old vehicle.

We can only get the basic road insurance which only covers other cars on the road in case of an accident. all the other damage is on your back.
Actually I think Britain is a rare place where you can get full cover for a 10+ year old vehicle.

  8. At the moment the engine is not in properly,no fuel pump,no rear wheel and on axle stands. And most people would say why would anyone want to steel such an 'ugly bug camper' :D

  9. All this has made me think again about getting a decent wheel clamp. Can anyone recommend a good one that will fit our late bays?

  10. Milenco clamps get a good write up...

  11. Someone has been onto our drive and opened our Engine Bay (could tell because rubber always hangs down if you don't tuck it back into place when you close the lid). Could just be kids - but fear something more sinister. Time to beef up the security for our van - so any recommendations gratefully received. Already have a steering lock and our number plate etched into every window. Now looking at Sky Tag monitoring system, CCTV and drive way security bollards. I know that a garage would be best option but ours is way too small :(

Does anyone know of a discount code for Skytag that is currently active? They retail at £250 but no one seems to pay more than about £125 if they have a code? Until we get it sorted she is being driven to work everyday as a daily - I know we have insurance but We would be heartbroken to lose her.

I did a rickyrooo1 the other day - twice! With a bit of jiggling, I opened it with the stub of the key I snapped a few months ago - it goes about 2mm into the lock. I best take a look at that I think.

At techenders I'll show you how the car thieves get in taking a few seconds and a bit of kit that pretty much all shops have.

    A carrier bag?

  19. Gladys has a kill switch fitted to her - so if you want to nick her you will have to mess around with the wiring - plus not many parts on her that havent been changed they would have to cut her up into little bits -

No, a reticent shop assistant with a hammer!!

The issue with kill switches is that on the standard wiring/engine most of the loom is easy to access and not much can be 'killed' so they aren't hard to compromise.

The thieves down my way that specialised in certain cars made up whole looms that they could clip in and by pass the original, e.g. Sierra Cosworths could have their entire ecu and ignition circuit compromised in a few minutes.

And, if you kept the original loom in the freezer overnight you'd reset the code.

Ok, that last bit was a lie...you had to cut a tennis ball in half and smack it with a mallet...
