Hope Cove - Karrageen

  1. We took the family down in Sandy for 3 nights on the way to Cornwall this summer and it was brilliant, a proper 'if carlsberg could do campsites' here's the link http://www.karrageen.co.uk

There was plenty of bays and because of the narrow roads no mahoosive motor homes, unlike our Cornish site we went to later in the week. The kids loved it and they just ran around for hours, a mile walk through the fields was Hope Cove and the beach, together with the Hope and Anchor pub, where we ended up most afternoons after messing in the rock pools.

The site was great and the owners did more than enough to make you feel at home. The showers, whilst 20p a go were spotless and always warm. Other campers were very friendly it was a real community that we did not want to leave, we were just down the road from Salcombe and Dartmouth and the rest of the South Hams coastline. Loved it

Go, you will not regret it!;)

  2. Looks a lovely site, we are thinking of going to south Devon next summer and this looks perfect. I spent a few holidays down near Salcombe when I was a kid and loved it so I'm really looking forward to taking the bus down there.

  3. I have been promised a return trip to this area next year. I last went in 1993 in my bug and stayed on a site called alston farm where I had been every year since I was about seven.
Crabbing at the crabshell inn in kingsbridge. The salcombe ferry. Parking by a church and walking across a golf course (thurlston?) and down a cliff onto a deserted cove that was visited by an ice cream boat.
Great memories I hope to replicate for my little girl

  4. Not sure whether the ice cream boat is still there, but we did trek across the golf course at Thurlestone and took the little uns to Dartmouth crabbing, top places that campers were made for!

  5. loved it @philntfc , it's excellent. About £25 with hook up at peak times but great view down to Hope. To be fair I'm thinking of another trip down there at half term but I will need some gas for the propex!:)
