  1. Im seeing a lot more homeless around where i live and work, today was no exemption. everyone walks past them as though they don't exist. But they do. A Homeless lady was sat on the pavment begging outside a super market in Didsbury village. everyone just ignored hear because well they can. she was asking for some change so she could buy herself a sandwich. With the money in my pocket i went into the shop and bought two meals deals, then proceeded outside sat down next to her and gave hear the choice. She said nobody ever done that before and broke down and started to cry! i was crying in the blooming end. maybe I'm sort touch

  5. It's been happening for a long time
Over the last few years I've seen people that o thought were doing well
End up in caravans on a parents or employers land
Just until they get on there feet
But it harder nowadays to get that first foot up
When you need a grand disposable to even rent a flat your fecked
A lot of single ex forces males end up homeless
I can only see it becoming more the norm
I just wish social judgement would change

  6. Indeed. Professionally I come accross them frequently. Often life has thrown them a curve ball at some point that any one of us would have failed to catch and from that point onwards a catalougue of failures both in society and usually as the situation develops flaws in the character are applied sufficient pressure that they develop antisocial problems that are near impossible to recover from.

Social services / mental health services in the county are in my opinion at an all time low point since the Victorian age in terms of resource and mandate.

    Very sad situations :(

  7. Suppose when you think about it use camping lot are smilier by choice! we camp outside get *******ed and walk round in the same clothes for the weekend.
So maybe do a campout in December before Christmas to rase money to go to a worthy charity to provide shelter, heat, light food. for someone that needs it.
    Anyone interested

  8. Sounds a cracking Idea.... perhaps taking over a large square in the middle of a city?

  9. Yes

  10. Yes your on to some think hear how about camping in all of the cities so everyone can join in without traveling miles but also raise money where they live

  11. Sadly there ends my contribution to the organising of such an event......I have barely enough time to organise my butty box before getting out the door to work....... and this is half the problem, modern life is so consuming we barely have time to look beyond our own noses at what's happening around us.

If someone organises this though it'll doubtless be like the field of dreams.

"Build it and they will come"....

  12. I will see what i can do

  13. I understand i did dubwoth

  14. I know you have a good interest at heart and your trying to do a good thing
But us lot binging ten quid on a pot each to give to people who are genuinely are on the down of downs
Whilst we get puddled In a field won't help much
We would give the money to a charity who would use most of that towards admin costs

I don't know what the solution or the best way to help is

From experience I do know that once you lose your self belief and dignity it feels all else is lost

Me and mrs para have always adopted someone for Christmas as it's a thing married forces people did so the single people that were stuck on camp at Christmas weren't sat in the block alone

This has changed over the years that we joke the best times are when
The house is full of wathes and strays

In all honesty it's the people that have stayed with us that have uplifted us

Charity begins at home they say
So instead of the easy option of giving money to charity
Look after someone close to home and help build there confidence and treat them with dignity

  18. Perhaps if it was to be done in a city - the money could be directly distributed in the form of a hot meal, some toiletries and a sleeping bag.

A deal could be done beforehand with a outdoor pursuits supplier for a "homelessness kit" that would form the cost of entry to the event, these kits could be given to homeless people who came to see the crazy van people setting up in their city, they could then be invited to spend the night with us at the location sharing a meal and a drink.......

I support a local homeless charity. I pay as much as I feel I can safely afford each month through direct debit. I have also volunteered to help out serving food on the odd weekend and always end up chatting to the clients. It's a fab way to give something. You hear their stories and smile a lot. It is a thing that is close to my heart. I don't know why I told you lot that!

Sadly that's the problem - which of them are real and needy and which of them let's say possibly aren't ?
