  1. Hi

I'm a newbie to the forum and am looking for any help that any of you more experienced owners could give me. I've spent years, and I mean years looking for a T2 Bay and am still looking. The problem is I'm no mechanic and know absolutely nothing about vehicles, the only thing I know is that I've wanted one of these buses for that long it actually hurts!!! The other problem, apart from my complete lack of knowledge is my finances!! With 5 boys we can't afford to spend in the £14k region to get something that's had all, well most of the work done already and with the £4-5kwe have I know I'll be lucky, very lucky to get anything at all so that's why I'm asking for help. I've seen so many that look ok but then even I can tell when I get there that they're going to fall to bits within I week. I've also seen some for that money that appear to look great but have been snapped up in a matter of hours and I've missed out AGAIN!! I don't mind getting a bus that needs work doing, obviously I can't expect anything else for the money I've got BUT there appears to be such a huge difference with some......some are advertised as projects and look like they've been abandoned completely for years and have has frogs and god knows what living in them and they're up for £8k and then there are some within my price bracket that look ok???? Basically I'm asking that if any of you know personally of a bus that is in decent enough condition to not be a complete death trap for my family and you could point me in the right direction I'd be VERY, VERY grateful for your advice!!!!!! Thank you so much in advance xx

  14. Hi Daisy, I was going to suggest the same bus - great minds etc... it says it needs some work but I doubt it needs a fortune sending initially looking at the pics - hopefully altair will be able to fill you in. The interior on that one is spot on and largely original.

You're right though, you have to be lucky with most buses up to £6k and sometimes more - a lot are advertised as solid but aren't necessarily the case and the projects are often those capable of doing the work themselves. For most people, buying a mid priced van that needs small amounts doing now and continued maintenance over the coming years is the only way to afford one of these vans. It's pretty much what I have done and although I have some knowledge of them I'm no expert.
Loads of people on here have tremendous knowledge about these vehicles and there are a number of specialists here in the North West too who will be able to keep you on the road.

    Hope you find one :)

Good luck. I wanted a bay for 15 years and when I finally took the plunge I wish I did it 15 years before. So much fun, some tears but mostly fun :)

Make sure you choose a bus you love as it costs alot to change it.

    PS welcome

Because he has a magic screwdriver that turns vans to rust - beware the the para tool ;)
