    Welcome to the forum fella.

Have a really good search on here as there is an abundance of threads highlighting the layouts of the various buses, what to look for and where to look for typical places which may need attention.

There is also a good for sale section with some good buses with documented history posted (in pictures) on here.

Any questions, Bazza Haynes will delightfully answer but it may not be thread appropriate.

Remember, its always Sunny in Barnsley and you'll be fine

    :hattip:

  3. Read the section about looking underneath

    then reread it

  4. Find a local garage/specialist and pay for them to come with you to view your perspective purchase.
Even at £100 a time it will save you vast amounts.
Be sure what you want.....a complete rebuild with welding and mechanicals or just personalising the interior...curtains and a few cushions.
There are some really good deals out there but also some real basket cases which will cost you lots in both money and time. For many of us on here, its a hobby and we enjoy spending time "pottering" in the garage. If that isn't for you think long and hard before parting with your hard earned. If it is for you, jump in, you'll have loads of fun, meet plenty of new people and have lots of fun times.

Take this advice or not..... but remember to look underneath. Rust is expensive and however many tv shows rebuild old vehicles in a matter of weeks, it rarely happens, especially when you're having to pay for it!

Enjoy! Our kids love being out and about and spending time in the van with Mum and Dad. Not sure how long it will last but we enjoy every minute when we are out in Lila.

    Don’t do it.

You can simulate ownership by throwing all the garden stuff out of your garage and never using it, then burn all your spare cash on a barbecue.

Once a year you can simulate an MOT by trying to distract the tester with tales of the adventures he/she probably had as a kid in one...whilst trying to hide you’ve had no sleep, have cried a couple of times that morning and have lied again to the missus about how much of a formality the whole caper is.

Searching the internet for obscure parts can also be done sans van, as can going to shows where every single thing is over priced and knackered. eBay is a rich source of plasma cutters and welders, allowing you to genuinely consider taking up welding...shove these in your empty garage, unused.

Go to B&Q and pay £4 for a 4p bolt that the aftermarket will convince you is OG....and no it’s not original gangsta.

Finally sprinkle some rust on the driveway, with a discernible oil puddle and look forlornly at it every once in a while.

    The is virtual vaneality.

  10. Don’t even consider it. If you are buying from someone who’s either had work done properly or done the work themselves properly they will
    a. Have loads and loads of pictures of all stages of the resto and
    b. Will be able to answer all your questions

  11. ^^^^^^^^^^ take heed. This level of utter despair and mental anguish can only be truly achieved by a seasoned bay owner ^^^^^^^^^^^^

  17. That yellow bay looks way too pretty and finished to be 12k. There’s not a mark on it. I bet it’s lipstick on a pig. Bet the underside is plastered is bullMarmite black.
