Help..we're new owners

  1. Hi all - were the very proud owners of a 79 Bay. But we really don't have a clue...
Mabel was running perfect when we brought her, then started to run really rough. We had her taken to a garage and they changed - plugs and distributor cap/ checked points. Was ok for about a week and now she is rough again.
She seems to be running really rich. Or not firing in all cilenders.
    Please help!

  2. Check the points haven't closed up again, the dizzy might be knackered.
    Whereabouts are you?

  3. Welcome...:hattip:

A guy on here does new type 4 motors ,but I forgot his name ,paul someone...

  4. I'd buy an accuspark dizzy straight away, get rid of the points. They are very cheap at about £30

  5. If you need any type 4 electronic ignition parts let me know as I have boxes of them

  6. How do you all know it's got a type 4?

  7. Was this a reply to our cry for help? Sorry new to this and couldn't tell

It would be useful to find an aircooled specialist near where you live. It's amazing how many garages mess up simple things.

  10. Decent aircooled specialist (although you still have to be careful!) and join an owner's club locally. Then of course there's places like here for specific questions. Sounds like your bus just needs a good service to be honest, nothing to worry about.
