Hello, Went to start the engine earlier and wouldnt start... bit of a weird symptom too... What happens is .. the engine will turn over fine on the starter but then theres a sort of popping sound comes from the rear... sounds a bit like a miss fire then the starter stops and I have to go back to igniton on before trying again! Tested the battery and it measures 12V the coil power was fine too... So a bit stumped as to what it is... and quite concerned about what the sound is.. its a very wierd sound.. its too quiet to be a miss fire but thats how it sounds.. when I went to the back of the van after trying it I could smell exhaust fumes... Any one got any ideas? I dont fancy the bus to work! haha Thanks Chris O0
Hmm .. just went out.. checked it - moved to TDC took dizzy cap off.. checked the alinment.. (didnt move it!) and it starts again ...So this thread is now.. Any idea why this is happening? ???
Maybe a bit of crud on the end of the rotor arm. Check your connections are clean. May have also knocked the arm back into place when you removed the cap.
some dizzy caps have to much play on em ,does your dizzy cap move side to when you wiggle it ....coz it shouldnt move atall.....ive purchased 3 so far before i actually got a decent german one .....
It could have been leads! I did push them all in to make sure when I refitted the dizzy! And not 100% but its either Powerspark or Accuspark (Are they the same company?) eitherway it was about £35 on ebay
Faulty electronic ignition module or associated item. Fit the original stuff back and you'll have no problem. There was a thread not so long ago about all this and problems people had. It then started the points or IE debate. FYI I'm points.
