  3. Well Guys we have news form the mechanic wich is great, all good and thats a huge releif I can tell you!
It seems we bought well (more by luck than judgement) and there are no major problems mechanicaly and thats the best news I could wish for.
Our little bus is solid underneath with just a wee spot of rusty stuff that will require attention over next winter ready for next year. BUT apart from that there are no big headaches, and certainly not MOT failure. Engine is good and bodywork is fine. Phew!
Is anyone out there watching the QUEST TV prog "One man and his Campervan" by the way?

Well heres some promised pics of the bus in all its glory!
Including a pic of what I think is the original first aid kit that was supplied with the bus 33 years ago.
Would love to hear what you all think

  6. You will also see in there a picture of our buses previous owners Esme and Francis who had the bus from new. We feel very honored that they chose us as the next custodians of their pride and joy. We have promised to stay in touch and visit when we are on our way up north next time.

  8. Lovely bus - congratulations and may you have many happy camps in him/her! I bet it was really hard for the previous owners to part with after all that time.

  12. Was driving through Ibstock this morning and coped sight of a lovely Marigold yellow bay coming towards me - any ideas who it might have been? Wanted to wave but realised I was in the car ! DOH!!!

  13. Yeh I think it was a bit of a wrench for Francis and Esme, but I think they have comfort in knowing its in safe hands. It was a bit emotianal for them I guess but at least they have a nice tidy bank balance now and can plan something special :)
We went to see Absolute VW on saturday and WOW what a place, nice guy and I have lots of confidence in their ability to help us look after our purchase. We have some works planned now and so the sympathetic renovations start, and the bank balance depleates further! LOL
I also just bought a weeny 12V heater thingy off ebay to help with the heating situation He he!

  14. Glad you got her home safely ,coming the lakes on saturday ?

  15. Yeh all home safe, shes all waxed and polished napping on our drive ready for the the next trip out. We have no bus plans for the weekend so wont make it out anywhere since we have pre bus diary comitments we cant get out of
First trip is to Norfolk for some bus action early April, we have 4 Days of happy chugging along -Bliss!- I cant wait. My hubby just cant stop smiling all the time hes driving her. I'm not getting a look in really LMAO

  16. I think just about everyone on this forum has a grin from ear to ear when driving their bus :)

Our first trip this year will be tekenders & we can't wait, hot water bottles at the ready :)

    Morning and welcome

  18. When is this crappy weather gonna give over?
I NEED to get out in the bus, and I dont want to take her out in this weather with all the crazy people drivng too fast in icy conditions!

  19. Well we have done it, our first night in our new bus!
We stayed in Norfolk in -2 on the first night WOW!
We were toasty tho, big duvet and a couple of hot water bottles kept us from hypothermia lol
Saw 6 other busses while we toured about a bit down there - including one guy that stopped us to ask if he could buy our bus for 12.5k there and then, Is that normal? does that happen much?
On the way going down the A47 loads of people waved not just people in busses but random drivers, The guy in the vintage beatle - I get that but Lorry drivers???
Cars full of kids over taking us all doing a funny wave too, whats all that about? is this something we should expect now? hahaha
Anyway the bus behaved perfectly, started first time all the time we where there, we had a lovely (cold!!) sedate drive on the way there into a strong headwind so the petrol consumption was a bit frightening. However on the way back we took only half an hour longer than we would in a car and it was bright sunshine and we had some great sounds on. A real pleasure and big grins all round :)
Only down side was that we needed to move her to her parking spot on the monday morning because we got back a bit too late and needed to unload and she wouldnt start. Eventualy she did so everything was ok, but is this her being a bit stroppy? Shes in at the mecahnic jsut having a check over this week so I guess we will find out soon enough. Got some pics too of our first trip so will upload them later tonight.
