Hello everyone from West Kent. We are a couple of near retirees who have had an itch to own a VW Bay camper for many a moon. We may soon scratch that itch! This forum has been a great help in learning about all things Bay and we thank you for that. Cheers for now, Rob
I know what you mean but sometimes some things just have to be done even if it simply teaches you not to do it again! T'other side - near T-Wells
Hello & Welcome from The Colonial Contingent My entire knowledge of T-Wells comes from this (5 minutes in)
Hello and welcome from the depths of the New Forest. Buy the Bus!! If nothing else it teaches you not to sweat the small stuff, and that asking advice from those who know makes even the not-so-small stuff seem more achievable
Hello from Yorkshire! We were in a very similar position. Needed rather than wanted a bay. Don't ask why, it's one of those instinctive things. One thing you must seriously consider: Do you want it so that you can spend all your spare time (and money) trying to get it to work and stop it falling apart? Or do you want to spend all your money first and then spend the rest of your time going camping and enjoying it? It's your choice but an important one and there is loads of advice to be had from this forum.
Hi from West Lancashire - we were in same situation a few years back - now have a '73 Westy which took us nearly 2 years to find - good luck in your quest.
That's sound advice - spending up front for a good'n is the way we are heading (within limits!), and I'll wait until we find the 'one'. We were considering a T5 - but while a sensible choice, they did not quite raise the same smile. This forum is great Cheers
Yes not that close to tunbridge wells but know it quite well so we may cross paths some day . Always here if ever you want an opinion on anything local , take your time and look at lots .Barney
just joined myself so a big hello from biggin hill. Restoring my 3rd bus and 7th vw! Loads of fun, antiquated and noisy but thats half the fun.....good luck with buying one and enjoy!!!
Hello and welcome from sometimes sunny Southend. We were in your same position 4 years ago and went for it! Took ages to find the right one but bought ours from Karmen Konnection and local to us. My best advise is research a lot, ask a lot on here, go to vw shows and buy the book 'The Essential buyer's Guide Volkswagen Bus' from Amazon @ about £10 (full of tips, refs and pics). Have a look at two vw bay sellers/restorers web sites in Essex ! VW downunder at Basildon and Bullibarn of Colchester. We have had Izzy for coming up to our 5th season and must say love the summer with car shows, vw festivals and music festivals. If you get a good one it can be a good investment, better then 0.5% from bank savings. Just do it!
