Hello from a new bay owner

Discussion in 'Introduce Yourselves' started by Colin N, May 31, 2015.

  1. Hi

After a year of looking, I finally took the plunge and am now the proud owner of this

I live in Spain where bays are like hens teeth here, and then I spotted this on Ebay, - a fully registered bay just 2 hours from home. I couldn't resist.

We have a list of jobs we would like to do to make it ours, but there's no rush. In particular we would like to

    • Replace door cards and redo the cab area,
    • Replace the seats with original ones.
    • Reupholster the back seats to match the front ones and colour code these to the cards.
    • The pop top canvas also needs doing, and I would like to put original seats back in the front.
    • There's a bit of a dent on the lower part on the left hand side, and some minor scratches so we'll probably have that sorted too, and perhaps give the whole bus a respray at the same time.

Any recommendations would be most welcome.

I would love to hear what you guys think.

    Cheers, Colin....

    Hello :)
Where in Spain are you? I used to live in Andalusia and bought my first Bay off Ebay in alicante :)

  3. Nice one Colin. It looks good from the video. Not sure I like how they have tried to do a split screen V on the front.

Enjoy using It before giving yourself a list of jobs!

  4. Looks good and solid  ! Think its later than 73 though, petrol cap, steering column seem to be later, cant tell from the video what colour the clocks? 73 they should be grey.

Hola Colin, looks nice, what's it like underneath?

  6. Looks very nice. Get rid of the painted v tho.

My dream to live in Spain, touring around in a vw!

    Looks nice Colin

  8. That's later than '73. The M plate will tell you all. For a quick check, look at the VIN number. The third one is the year so, 23312345 is a '73 while, for example, 23512345 is a '75.

Hello & Welcome from The Colonial Contingent :hattip:

  10. Hi, We are on the costa blanca just inland a few miles from Denia. I really didn't think I would get a T2 out here, so guess I was just lucky. It's very nice here at the moment.

  11. Thanks Paul, I will.

Couldn't agree more about the white V. That will be going when I can get around to it.

  14. Thanks everyone for your comments,

The underneath is very solid. I understand it was in an underbuild out here for many years so has been kept out of the weather.

Due to the bureaucracy here and hoops you have to jump through to even buy a second hand car, I wont get it home for a week or two so I cannot check the M plate and other details to verify the year but I will definitely do that. Thanks for the heads up on that.

    Cheers all, Colin...
