beetle type 1 engine manual fuel pump 1600cc single carb Took the carb off for a clean with carb spray. Carb back on, added a new in line filter between the fuel pump and carb. Fuel now won't reach the carb, even with filter detached, no fuel reaches the carb feed????? Indications show that the fuel pump is at fault, however this worked perfectly prior to me just cleaning the carb and fitting the filter? I don't get it and I've spent /,wasted half my day off trying to sort it! Help please!
When I take the feed off the pump, starts pouring fuel out the pipe. Just prior though, nothing came out until I sucked it and then came out well. Fuel com G out well now though. Nothing coming out the carb feed but has managed to dribble a bit into the filter.
Try primeing the pump with fuel, ive had it before where the pump won't pump air but is fine with fuel
Suck fuel pipe from fuel tank, then connect to pump, cut top off old inline filter and pour fuel down pipe from carb to fill fuel pump
This ^ or pour a capful in the carb throat and see if it primes itself once started. They usually do!
Some of the cheep filters collapse especially under pressure Try it without the filter As said above the filter goes in the low pressure side before the pump
If priming the pump doesn't work, is it likely to be the pump? Never had issues before o took the carb off, lost a bit of fuel from the pump feed line while I was changing pipes But fuel now coming back from the feed.
