  1. They are for audio so no problems

Hmm no clip it would seem:

Presumably I want 1 of these?

  5. I had the clip...then lost it :( Cable tie works fine. Only got to clamp the cable outer

    Hi all

I'm stuck, or rather the heater cable that leads to the back heat exchanger the right hand side is not cooperating. I've now unclipped both ends of said cable.

From the front, the outer sleeve slides nicely over the inner cable, but no matter how hard I try the steel inner cable will not budge and I've tried from either end.

    Any clues?

    Thanks as ever.

PS lubrication has been applied ;-)

  7. I used to do that.. and I never took them off in the summer either :)

  8. Leave it off & tie the h/x open. I have no cables or even tubes due to the lazy b****** restoman not fitting them.

I'm trying not to be that b****** so I'd rather try to fix it if I can. But I get your frustration....

Over the past few months I've sorted the electrics to the snail fan and replaced both h/X control valves. One side is working and I may end up connecting that side and cable tie the other but now that the cable is out both ends, so to speak, I'd rather try to fix it. I'm very puzzled that the outer sheath is running free but the inner steel cable is stuck.

  10. It could be that the plastic sheath is broken halfway (or so) down the cable but said cable is rusted to the steel tube it runs through. You could try more ‘wet’ lube blown/forced down the tube with compressed air, maybe from both ends.... Also try tapping the tube with a light hammer along it's length.

On a related note is there supposed to be a spring on the lever on the totem pole to pull it the flap shut? I broke my cable as it didn’t like having to push the flap shut but if it had a spring I guess it wouldn’t have to work so hard.
Managed to get a cable off Simon at NOSVW.

  12. Yes there should be a spring

Any idea of the size etc? I couldn’t find it anywhere but should be able to get some generic size to fit.

  14. If you can wait until I get back to my van Jim (Monday), I've got a huge box of springs & can check & send you a suitable one.

That’d be ace if you don’t mind. Only 1 of the three levers on my dash currently do anything!

Do you know that feeling when you crawl out from under the camper and the world has been set to rights....well today I did not get there :(

The heater cable was so firmly stuck that I've given up. After lubricating, hitting and even talking nicely to it, I tied the front and slowly reversed the van. Cable bent the bolt attached to the wall rather than move, so it's now cut short and heater control is cable tied in place.

    At least one is working.:)

  17. Is the cable inner seized, or is the whole thing stuck in the conduit?

Whole thing stuck, stucker than a stuck thing... Outer eventually all unravelled. I don't normaly give up, but it did not budge at all after lots and lots of lube and persuasion. At some point I can possibly cut the old pipe and seen if I can fix it or replace.
I've got one fully working side and the other is all working except for the cable, so it's tied off at the moment. The bright side is that it's better than when I started with nothing working:)
