Might I suggest an alternative choice of Desert? A speciality of Berni Inns namely Black Forest Gateau ....superbly synthetic with that subtle tang of the chemistry lab.
@snotty still has a Berni inn in his town, he's often seen in there wearing his looms, a cheesecloth shirt and a Kevin keegan perm
