  1. I agree with horts

  2. to late now. it's the bug's turn next so i'm going to be saving hard so that he can go in and be pampered by a very good bodyshop/sprayer. not going through this again, life's too short for the stress this has caused.

  3. Learning to paint aint that hard hun tbh 90 percent of the job is in the prep then 5 percent for spraying and 5 percent for final polishing and finishing

A fair few bodyshops are hiring there booths and equipment out for private hire nowadays

If you get your bus to someone you know of the net, to hire said persons spray booth, said person would gladly help YOU spray your bus ;)

I owe said person a big favour or i trade work with said person

  15. yesterday i was upset about my van. today i am ANGRY. I've just left a snotty message on the (good?) sprayers answer phone, and set him a lengthy text as back up. Also, sent a text to the brother telling him i wont be picking the bus up today as i'd rather the work was done properly, rather than quickly (esp as it was supposed to be finished "by august").

next weekend i'm supposed to be at a festival in the bus in yorkshire for my birthday. this weekend i had the waxoyl ready to put him back together... :(

am almost tempted to call my cousins  , but am giving them a chance to sort it all out. just one chance...

i do hate it when people ******* on me and try to tell me it's raining! RAAARRRRRR!

  16. It's things like this that make me do all the work myself. I've never sprayed before in my life but I've prepped, filled, sanded, primered and resanded all this week. Got a little more touch up filler here and there then another coat of primer to go on.

In fairness it's not hard just real time consuming. But considering a proper job is going to be 2-3k I'd rather do it myself, and I also know it will be done just how I want it.

  17. Really feel for you. I hired a so called sprayer (ex Devillebiss trained) for £800 to do my bus at home. I preped it back to bare, gleaming metal and bought the 2K paint. He primed it and sprayed the door tops and interior - leaving more runs than a regular curry eater! I lost my money but was just relieved to sack him before the top coat went on. I was stranded and totally gutted, with a job half done and fast running out of warm weather.

I then bought my own kit (and face masks) and got some fantastic American CDs on spraying tequniques in 2K paint. Fortunately I did learn a lot from the sprayer re how to mix the 2k and prep, so I took the plunge and did it myself. I am very happy with the results and know that any mistakes are down to me.

It is just too expensive to employ people to do a proper job, so take a deep breath, break out the books, bodywork CDS and wet and dry...... the satisfaction is there in the end!!! :)

  18. i actually can't do it myself as i'm not supposed to be exposed to chemicals, even house cleaning products!

but yes, in the past i've foound that diy is best. it's not just my bus though. it really angers me that people (blokes) see a small woman on her own and think they can take the *******.

i had it with a v reputable vw place here a few years ago.... he told me that taking the bug wings off would take a while as "the the bolts rust on". i told him he's have no problem with any of the bolts on the whole car, as they were all stainless (inc washers) and i copper greased them beforehand. i took one out there and then.... he was also the one that tried to tell ME the paint code for MY GT bug was different to what i KNEW it was. in the end i had to take an ex with me... i hate THAT! (oops, still ranty pants today)

  19. Dont worry about ranting we are here to listen 8)

I had my bus done at a commerical van sprayers, they had the space , the kit and the experiance with larger vechacls

Found there labour charge was less then the normal car folk down here, great job cost just £1000
