Normally take the van down to the Alps for skiing but this time I'm planning to go to the Cairngorms. I've just bought some hiking boots so if there's no skiing then I'll go walking. There's a campsite at Glenshee with hook ups - first come first served. If anybody wants to join us just let me know and I'll give you all the details, or all the details I have. I plan to get there Monday 28th Jan, ( a week tomorrow). @nicktuft @Geordie
I guess a lot of it is folklore and over active imaginations, I wouldn't want to go up there on my own but would love to walk it (fitness not good enough at the moment)
Last I heard not much snow up there sorry to say. Might have changed last few days. Try Mountain Conditions Underfoot on Facebook .
That sounds great -I'm in. Only two things I should mention i s'pose.... Having back surgery in a fortnight for heniated disc and I can't ski. What could possibly go wrong. (I can't really walk either due to back injury but you'll pull me along if I bring a sled no?)
Been skiing in the caringorms a few times.. Love it up there when it's covered, if snows a bit thin on the ground, ( Check on ski Scotland ) The lecht centre will have some, On the cockbridge to tomitoul road ..
Yes - I took a year off work to ride a bike from Manchester to Cape Town and wrote a book called 'Ten Reasons Why Africa Will Never Win the World Cup.' Mostly about why it was such a disappointing experience and why I don't want to ever do it again.
I'd love to come up to Scotland and go walking, unfortunately too much sea time would make a suggestion an unpalatable one at home. Last time I went serious winter walking in Scotland it was like this. Hope you get some appropriate conditions
