  1. Bugger!
Got to go and get some EP90 this afternoon and forgot to check how much there is in a 1700 gearbox.
Anyone got the manual to hand? (Or indeed sad enough to know it off by heart)(you know who you are!)

  2. 3.5 litres, from memory.

  3. Yep.

  4. Thanks guys.

  5. as they said but i only know that cos I had the bible out last night as mine needs doing!

  6. Having just changed the gearbox oil in a 1700 gearbox, should take 3.5 litres according to manual, but could only get just over 3 in before it started dribbling out, I did leave the drain plug out until it had stopped dripping but maybe you just can't empty the gearbox completely. Any ideas, or is this normal.

  7. did you warm it up before you emptied it ? Ie take it for a run ?

  8. Same as mine. I could only get about 3 litres in. Don’t worry!

  9. Yes but not too hot, maybe I should have got it hotter.

  10. Thanks, nice to know I'm not alone.

  11. Prob ok , just needs warming up a tad to get it moving , lot of cogs hanging on to it in their , still you know it’s topped up now anyway .

  12. you should lift up the front to help oil drain.

  13. thanks to all for your help

  14. A little tip before draining - ensure you can get filler plug off first. Or you will be left with gearbox with no oil when you could leave it if filler does not budge.

  15. If you raise the front of the vehicle when draining you will get more of the old oil out.
