Gasket for taco plate

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by AndyC, May 23, 2015.

  1. I need to buy a gasket for my taco plate as I'm fitting a temperature sender adaptor plate.

I can't find one anywhere! Any ideas?

  2. That looks like it's for the strainer. Not the taco plate.

  3. I thought it would look something like this.

  4. Although having looked at the new taco plate, I think it takes an o-ring rather than a gasket.

  5. Hi

Where did you buy the taco plate? I'm expecting one in the post to do the same job and assumed it would come with the gasket. I'll ask the guy who's sending mine and see what he says and let you know.

    cheers

  6. its an o ring we need, i am doing the same thing, cant find it any where ,only in a full gasket set,if you find a supplier please post, although i am in oz it still might be worthwhile

  7. Or, it's a 77mm x 4mm o-ring if you can find it anywhere.

  8. You need the o ring , the gasket is for the cover which you need otherwise its pointless fitting the taco plate ..the bolts have their own copper washers ....
Ref the gasket just buy a sheet and make your own ..

  9. I don't have a cover.

    I'm fitting one of these.

  10. Yep, this. Buy some gasket paper off eBay for a few quid and make your own!

  11. That's the one I'm fitting and the guy just replied saying a gasket is available on the VWH site.
I suggested he buy the 25 o rings from exact rubber and start shipping them with his taco plates...

  12. Agreed.

    Bit silly it doesn't come with a £1 o-ring!

  13. If I buy 10 of the Vitron ones, do people want to buy some back off me?

If not, I'll just buy one.

  14. I'll take 2 - spare for when the first one melts....
