HD is sharper and I also notice its LOUDER. I'd say the actual box (flat panel) will get further away from TV as we know it and more internet/computer like. You can already get so called smart TVs, which give you basic internet (youtube, facebook etc.). this is all very well but you can only get what the manufacture has given you access to so I have a Western Digital HD streamer which will convert just about any format the internet chucks at it.
thing is im 31 years old and i like watching old black and white movies, will these eventually fade out as we wont have the "technology" to watch them eventually there will be no CRT tvs and eventually plasma/lcd/led will be a thing of the past just a thought
