I've asked this before but I am on the mobile and the search facility is carp.

Need to know which are the ins and outs on the fuel pump. Here is a photo.

The left one at the top I have going into the engine bay and the top right is fed from tank. Is this right or wrong. Just turning it over as we speak and worried I have it the wrong way as it is not starting just yet.

  2. The top left (one with bend) is the feed from the tank...

That may be my problem. Many thanks Paul.

  4. The one with the kink in it the bottom left one should go to your carbs

Ok now that's the opposite of what @Paul Weeding said. Who is correct

  6. Nope... I assumed that Phil was talking about if the photo was rotated through 90°

So bottom left in current format would be from the tank (I think)... I'd have to look at one on the bench to confirm....

But if you've got no fuel at the carbs, then I'd always assume that the pump was the wrong way round!!

  7. @Paul Weeding .... isn't the 8mm one the one I've circled in yellow the feed from the petrol tank and the pink one the 6mm to the carbs, that's what Zed said to me the other day.

That's my current set up. Fingers crossed it is right.

    Pickles likes this.
  9. Suggest using the correct fuel clips and not jubilee ones.

Was told by a mechanic I know that it wasn't a big deal.
I know it's frowned on but it does the same job.

  11. If you take the hose off at the carb end and stick it in a glass jar, then spin the engine over a couple of times on the starter you'll know if the pump is working.
Have a fire extinguisher handy just in case.

  12. Correct, though a fuel clip is designed to reduce the possibility of cutting into the fuel line!
