Find the green wire on the back of the gauge and short the terminal its attached to down to earth.#
With the ignition on the gauge shout read full

  3. Thanks for that, I'll have a go this weekend.

  4. there is a single wire that goes through a grommit in the fuel tank shelf between the side of the starter motor and chassis leg short this to the body (ground) with someone watching the gauge if it goes up its the sender faulty. if not try shorting to body (as above) at clocks if this works its the wiring faulty if no action from the needle it's the gauge at fault (quite common on lates i had 3 sets of clocks in my last van

  5. Great thread.

I do like pottering about on TLB as you come across top tips like this. My fuel gauge must have been replaced by the PO as the is a crude hatch cut abovebthebsender on the rear shelf. Even so it never reads above 1/4 full. I think I will have a little play using the tips above as it would be nice to get it working properly.

By the way, if you get one reading well do they stay that way?
