    Hi.
Got a new fuel filter, metal type,
1st new one in 80,000 miles.

I also have a 'fuel additive cleaner' to put in the tank with full tank of petrol.

Should I put that in before or after changing the filter?

  2. It might dislodge a load of crap, you could do it before and hope it does not block the old manky filter, or do it after and then wonder how filthy your nice new filter is getting.

If it was me I would change filter bung it in, run it for a thousand miles, then replace again :)

I’d change the filter and wouldn’t bother with the 'fuel additive cleaner'.

Think then I'll change the filter and put the additive in the daily driver...
    Thanks

Me too, I’ve cleaned loads of things off using petrol but I doubt these additives are doing very much if anything especially in a mucky old system like this one. Just change your filters regularly and that’ll do more than a hundred of these additives will ever do. I’d be quite reluctant to put it in any motor especially my daily one.

A thousand miles would easily have covered the mileage of the three previous owners of my bus put together..

    For me about 6 weeks.
