Front hinge Westy Mounting

  1. Hi all, just trying to put the luggage section of the Westy top back on to the rear of my bus. When I took it off it was "secured" at the rear by a long self tapper and a #8 dome head wood screw and the front wasn't a lot better. Now I'm putting it back I would like to know if there is supposed to be spacers on the rear fixings to raise the fiberglass and black trim off the roof to match the 10mm ish gap at the front or should I just screw it down tight, which to my mind would be a good way to make a swimming pool.

  2. Mine is held by long self tappers that I have replaced with stainless - I have never removed it though so not sure what is underneath but there is a small gap similar to the front that allows water to drain into the gutters.

  3. Lovely thank you this suggests I need to make some spacers, back to the workshop :)

  4. I think Demi John type bungs make good spacers at the back.

  5. They're available new but demi john bungs are cheaper and about the same size.

  6. Thanks for the replies, I think I may have over engineered a solution with what I had in the workshop
with some nutserts fitted in the roof and the bits shown below. Should do :D westy rear mounting hardware.jpg :D
