  1. Looks good. I know a few people going too but its an 1100 mile round trip from here. :(

  2. Always wanted to go. What's the itinerary? Easy to still get a ferry, tunnel?

I'd love to do this one; its guaranteed I have assignments to complete when the show is on..next year maybe!

  4. The format in recent years has been to arrive Calais side of tunnel for 8am (French time) on saturday to meet up for the convoy. Convoy moves off after an address from the self styled organiser of the convoy. There were two halts on the motorway one longer than the other and we arrived at Ninove about 2pm. The convoy finds it way to the Slagmuylder Witkap brewery on the edge of town. The brewery people make us very welcome, there are beers to drink and takeaway and some nice glasses with a roundel on to commemorate the event.

There's a meal organised for the Saturday night which you need to book for, good value and tasty. After this is a party in a club/bar with DJs from the English VW scene playing all sorts of music, we arrived to skinhead oi! and left to jazz funk.

After all that its an early start to drive back into Ninove centre for 8am to be in the first 100 for a better goody bag. People were arriving all morning and it ended up with an overspill area, I estimate 1100 aircooled from all over northern europe. Theres plenty of cafes and food outlets. I left there about 1pm on the sunday last year and got indoors in Essex about 8 after diverting around because the Dartford Tunnel was shut. I was driving around the Blackwall tunnel area in my bus thinking wtf, and the locals were looking at me thinking the same........lol

I'm back with 3 mates this year. Bear in mind it can be really cold and the witkap beer has a nasty habit of running up behind you with a hood of drunkenness and chucking it over your head. tescos vouchers on the tunnel train, i reckon it could be easy to catch the convoy up, during one of the halts if you know which services they're in, if you had to get a later train.

    hope this helps

  5. so....anyone coming? There's a facebook page for the convoy, there are some people offering hotels and tunnel bookings cheap cos they can't go.

  6. What's the damage for tickets to show and ferry etc? Bit of a drive down from Newcastle but almost tempted to get away for a weekend without kids etc :)

Could compare Bali Yellow campers too :D
