Next up is fitting the door seal kits (the decent quality ones - apparently) bought from Schofields and replacing both broken 1/4 light catches.
First issue. Can anyone please shed some light on how to remove the main glass when you have the vent bit in the bottom corner? I've already removed the regulator.

  2. I think you remove quarter light then the window seal/scraper then pull it out the top to the outside of the door but there may be beer infecting my memory:burp:

Makes sense, thank you. That's going to be fun to reassemble o_O

  4. Best way is as above: strip the door, unfortunately. Qlight handles may be held on by a small roll pin. Tap that out, and the catch comes off.

The catches are wrecked so I'll have to remove the rivets and rivet new ones on. Is there a special tool to do the rivets?

  6. On the nosey ...

Top tip is not to rush things and make 100% sure the wiggly wire is popped in properly , please don`t ask how i know
    that ....

  7. That'll be fun. Assume they were pressed in using a die to shape the rivet head. Do you absolutely have to take (presumably) the brackets off? The "handles" should come off separately.

The catches are knackered. Last resort will be a hammer and punch for the rivets, followed by a dremel tickle.

  9. Should be able to drill the ends off and get them out, it's getting new ones in that might be a prob. Can't actually remember what they look like.

I rang Autocraft Engineering today and they have the catches and rivets. I'll do a thread on it when I tackle it.

  11. i had one that was knackered - as above, kept the original bracket in place and just replaced the twisty pivoty handle bit by pushing out the pin, took about 5 mins.

    How do you know that?

  13. I think you’re going to regret trying to take the brackets off...

I have no choice - they're seized and broken.

  15. Just as he says I have just pulled Tilly's doors apart to clean wax oil and fit sound proofing and although the Bentley says pull out the from below you will see there are no vents fitted to the doors, the only way is to remove when vents are fitted is to remove the wiper on the door side and take the glass out from above> Beer has not affected your memory drink on
