  1. Machine 7 also do the refurbed Solexex. Might be worth comparing the prices.

    EDIT. OMG Machine 7. £335.50

    Riverhaus. £189
    ???????????????????????????????

  2. Quite a difference, I often use M7 but went for a Riverhaus carb.

waste of money on a recon 1600 tp, you ain't running a big overblown drag racer down the strip, get a accuspark or similar and you'll be fine

Get your purse out and pay for powder coating you cheapskate, it's well worth the few quid it costs. I've degreased, cleaned fixed and painted tinware in the past, what a faff! Stick it in a box and give it to someone with a proper degreaser, blasting cabinet and powder coat equipment, you can't beat it!

  7. Yeah but there's plenty of people had accuspark etc go wrong, and they are cheap (crap?) at the end of the day. I don't mind paying the dosh for something if it's decent and I can fit it and then not worry about it.

  8. Maybe I'll get a price. But I have all the stuff to clean/ paint it, on my shed so painting would effectively be free. If I can save money in one area I can put it to better use in anothrr

  9. Removing the old dissy, drive, shims from engine..
Does it have to be in a particular position (tdc?) To remove? Or just whip the blighter off?

  10. just whip it out ... btw I know nothing

  11. Me neither!

Wondered if the drive dog only came out one way or something, but it Seems the recon unit comes with the dissy drive fitted so I can leave that in, saves a job

  12. EDit. Was going to post, don't turn the engine with the dizzy out but not needed.

  13. Get all your tin blasted and powder coated
And that's advice coming from the man who strips and paints everything.

  14. You won't think that when you've got your new shiney engine. Have everything powder-coated!

  15. Gawd wat a load of princesses, ooh make it pretty, its an engine its gonna be covered in oil and muck and scratches in a few weeks . got a quote for £80 today to powdercoat it all . I'm painting it myself. I can then spend that £80 on beef tomatoes.

You realise that they want more for a performance-challenged Solex than a progressive, or some dual carburettors on eBay ...

    something about polishing a turd...

  18. How much for a set of twin carbs? Bear in mind I can't be arsed taking them to bits to refurb them, so its gotta be good to go....

  19. No it won't. If it's all shiny, you'll want to lick it clean every weekend.
