Fitting a leisure battery, which inverter?

  1. Hi All,
this is my fist post so please bear with!
just ordered some bits from just kampers, including an extrabattery, I'm not sure if 500watts will be enough to power all my family's electric gadgets,
what do you think i should go for? and there are some cheap inverters on e-bay, are these just as good?
    Many thanks,
    Dean

  2. I have a 500w one, thought we would be using lots of power, not used the inverter once yet ! last camp trip we had leccy hook up and didn't use it, the leisure battery lasted 6 days powering the stuff we used, so, imo don't spend a fortune just yet, see what u use (or can't use) then decide

  3. Welcome to the forum! :)
Have a look at what you have and add up the watts.
Pretty sure 500 will be more than enough? Look at companies like Maplin also.
Fleabay can be hit and miss. They can get quite hot so just ensure you buy one suitably heatsinked and with a safety cutoit circuit built in. Aldi also sell them sometimes.

I have a 300w one and I've only ever used it to power up the hoover and charge the camera.

  5. Have a look on my thread about interior electrics 12v and hookup thread, think it's in the how to.

It has a list of common appliances wattage and also how to calculate etc. It also tells you how to work out how long your leisure battery will last.
