Field of Dreams - York Knavesmire - 30-01 Sept 2013

Hi there people,

I hope I'm okay posting this in here - if not slap my wrists and remove it

I'm planning a new show for 31/08-02/09 (there will also be camping allowed on the Friday night but entertain yourselves with bar-b-ques etc), it's to be a completely aircooled show - only aircooled vehicles will be allowed access, there will be a car park outside if people want to come for the day in their watercooled vehicles but no watercooled vehicles will be allowed into the show. I am planning to incorporate 'Dub Tech North' into the show, with tech talks/maintenace demos during the day (similar to your Techenders weekend) and then I have a fantastic band for the evening entertainment. There will be all the usual things, traders etc.

It will be held on York Knavesmire (Racecourse) and should be a fantastic weekend! I haven't really advertised it as yet as I'm awaiting a logo which should be with me in the next couple of days but the Knavesmire is booked as is the band, just need to sort out everything elee lol - marquee, traffic planners, toilets etc. But the date and location are now set

As for Dubs int' Dales, many have asked about a date for this year, we are hoping to get this confirmed by the showground next week (fingers crossed) - we are hoping for the same weekend as last year so it would be 8th/9th June.

So, who's up for it? I know it clashes with VW Action at Santa Pod and Volksfling in Scotland but this was unavoidable and to be honest it's going to be a different kind of show anyway, always a shame to clash but thankfully we didn't have to clash with anything close by

I like the idea of air-cooled only. I put a thread up about it a while back.

 

It's something I feel us aircooled lot deserve - something exclusive just for us hehehehe! Can you imagine a field just full of aircooled VWs? - hence the name 'Field of Dreams' BIG GRIN!

 

What about aircooled with a watercooled conversion? Would I have to sleep in the carpark?

 

Hmm I'll have to think about that - might have to leave you in the car park, yes that's a great idea hahahaha!

 

Sounds great we shall def try to get to this be great to see just aircooled... x

 

Maybe I could do what somebody suggested in another post - if it was originally built as an aircooled and is pre-watercooled VW age then we can allow it - what do people think?

 

On the aircooled converted to watercooled discussion - maybe we could do random spot checks and have a fine for anyone we catch > > >

 

Oh and if anyone has any suggestions then throw them at me - I'll d my best, I want this to be THE most enjoyable show for us special aircooled people

 

I am definitely up for this - particularly attracted by the tech talks/ maintenance demo stuff. Also agree with a lot of the others, I have never been interested in the builders vans, never even really looked at one. Can't tell the difference between a T4 and a T5

 

Sounds like a good idea to me and I am not worried about it clashing with the other shows as one is too far and Santa Pod lost its appeal a few years back.
