I thought it would be a brilliant idea to cut-down a Highland Spring fizzy water bottle to turn into a funnel to fill the gas tank (you can see where I’m going with this I guess?). So just to check it fit, I popped it into the filler hole (with the plastic screw-cap still on it) and it got stuck. So, long story short, the cap’s now floating around in the tank. My question (after you’ve stopped laughing) is : will it float/sink? Do I need to worry about it? Is it likely to block the fuel flow? I know I’m an arse, but if you can resist taking the p**s too much, or at least blend it with an answer, I’d be grateful. Cheers, Phil
If you haven't already looks like it's time to cut a whole to access the fuel sender, and hopefully fish it out. Best to get it out I say.

It may turn into a thick plastic sludge, if it hasn't already, sink & block the outlet, I would fish it out too
Petrol pumps come with these great attachments on the end these days. Perfect for getting fuel into the filler hole. It’s almost as if they’re designed for the job!?

Thanks Baysearcher, I must try to keep up with the times Sadly on this occasion, I was filling up with a jerry-can (sans spout) ‘cos I’m going to get a new starter motor fitted tomorrow (doesn’t work when hot), so was just making sure there was enough gas to get me to Norfolk without stopping at a gas station (with the aforementioned new-fangled attachment), thus requiring me to crawl under the beast and belt the current starter with a hammer! It will float around, and maybe do what the fuel sender labels do and block the petrol outlet just once in the lifetime of the bus. At least its not one of those caps with a bit of soggy waxed cardboard. Now that would get soaked in petrol then drift down onto the petrol outlet and stay there.
