  1. What with Halloween just round the corner and an advert I spotted today for The Blair Witch Project I got to wondering which movies have scared the bejesus out of you.

Blair Witch was good but the bloke who sat next to us going "Hubba Hubba" every time something happened spooked us more than the movie did. The bit in Jaws where the head floats out of the hole in the boat makes me jump every time. Paranormal Activity freaked me out a bit and I haven't seen 2 or 3 but have heard good things about them. I grew up with old school Hammer Horror offerings and it wasn't until The Omen, The Exorcist or Alien that I started to appreciate being proper scared. I loved The Ring (Ringu), the original rather than the Hollywood remake, small kids with white faces and long hair are guaranteed to freak me out as is any scenes with someone floating in it like the elevator scene in The Eye. I still haven't seen a better creature feature than Ridley Scott's The Thing and have yet to find a Zombie movie that makes me jump although 28 Days Later was the first time I had seen Zombies run and that did worry me.
The original Saw was clever and I dreaded the part in The Sixth Sense where the boy went into the tent under the table to see the little girl. Deliverance has also left me with a fear of banjo playing hillbillies.

  2. 1 The Shining
    2 Ringu
    3 Juon

If you havent seen it charlieabbottuk check out Juon.
It was remade but not very well ,the original japanese one is miles better.

  3. Thing is I think theres a big difference between genuine creepy movies and just disgusting movies.
Always prefere the creepy ones ,they get under your skin.

  4. Couldn't agree more, seen a lot of chop socky horror Vampire Girl Vs Frankenstein Girl etc. and creepiness wins over pure gore every time.

  5. 1) The Shining
    2) The Others

  6. Terrordales

    Terrordales Nightshift

  16. Really like Hitchcocks 'The Birds'.
It's the ordinary made disturbing. Sets off all those 'what if' thoughts...
I don't find schlock horror scary at all, is very funny thou..

LC just reminded me of 'Magic' Dummys are much scarier than clowns!
