I think it's GREAT. It will be like 1972 again. And let's face it we've sent in all sorts except an OAP and he can't do any worse than Daz a few years ago. Ohhhhh the shame of it.

Greece will win anyway. I think it's Whoever votes the least for them win the country and its debt.

Its scraping the bottom of the barrel a bit with him, isnt it?

  10. I think this is absolutely fantastic news. Engelbert (now 75) will not be taking it too seriously at all. And that alone will take him a long way. I have a great photo of THE three legends together in Vegas in the early 70s (who, in 'real life' were great pals too), Elvis, Engelbert and Tom Jones. I'd love to see Tom Jones take a pop at Eurovision, just for laughs, sometime in the future. Sadly Elvis never will. Because he's Amercian. ;)

Whatever anyone thinks of Engelbert, the [glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow][/glow] is that he still has the most supreme singing voice and a MASSIVE fan base all over Europe. Grannies everwhere will be picking up the phone and voting. I hope he sings one of his biggest songs from the late 60s / early 70s, maybe Release Me or something like that.

  14. if they are choosing the golden oldies why not go the whole hog
and bring on the rolling stones

Better still pull out of the silly show

We seem to forget that in 2009 it wasn't so bad for us with Jade Ewan and Andrew Lloyd-Webber who took us to 5th place in Moscow. The last time we came higher was in 1998 with Immani who was pipped at the top slot by an Israeli transexual :)

And 2011 wasn't so bad with 11th place. Admittedly the shame of having Dedwood beat us is something we Brits can never recover from

"The more you listen to it, the stronger it gets," said Humperdinck. "It's not a one-time listen."

Just the sort of song you need for a one time only show.

  19. Lovely song. Fantastic voice. He'll do well. I would have preferred something with a bit more tempo, a bit of beat, boppy.

  20. Just heard it on the radio.
    Were going to loose again.

Sound like karaoke in a funeral parlour.
