  1. Do suppose you have a type 4 cylinder head with oval ports?
Got mine back from vapour blasters and it's cracked on one of exhaust valves

  8. Hi Davidoft, do you have a decent type 4 2.0 bottom end (case, crank, rods, etc) as I would like to build a 2.1 for my Westy over the winter. Not to bothered about heads & Barrels as will probably go new on these unless you have a better option ? While I'm searching for bits do you have an early roof bunk - folding canvas type for a forward hinged Westy as mine is awol ? Please let me know what have, thanks Paul.

You mean the small roof bunk, yes . I have a few bottom ends. All for rebuilding but that’s what you want right ?

  10. Yes, one to rebuild but a decent undamaged case & a crank that will take a regrind as I believe a lot of type 4 cases end up needing work, line boring etc. Can you let me know how much for the bottom end & roof bunk, also am I right in thinking your based on the south coast? Thanks again.

  11. 2.0l stroke is 71mm, usual oversize B&P’s is 96mm, that’s 2056cc – is that what you mean by a 2.1?
A few do but most don’t, however, ‘professional’ engine builders often line bore the case because it’s easier than checking it.

  12. Yes, probably will be 2056cc as that seems the most readily available & cost effective size, although haven't decided yet. My bus has a 1700 in it I rebuilt last winter which goes very well however I do fancy a bit more torque... As for the case I'm just trying to avoid buying a knackered one to start with.. off eBay or whatever.

  13. You could spend your money on a new crank and rods and rebuild the 1700 case into a 2316cc.

  15. @davidoft any idea on case condition and price please.

  16. Hi,
Why your digging for a head do you also have the thermostat bracket that goes on the sump?
    Thanks

  17. Nice idea, but don't want to go to radical, also want to keep the 1700 motor. Then I can swop them over in a day or so & not have the Bus out of action for long. Plan is to run taller gearing or a six rib box as well. The other advantage is if I've not completed the new engine or sorted the box in time we can use the Bus as is next spring onwards, not got a huge amount of spare time & holidays are for holidays
