Engine raise

  1. Anyone done engine raise on type 4 just about to tackle this was just after a heads up ect 6 inches be good Then the custom air bags going in

    The driveshafts will run straighter if the engine goes up...I suppose you already did the notching because I remember it didnt have bumpstops so the Jubilee clips on the CV joints were already hitting.


    This is getting into body drop land where it gets easier to drop the body shell on the chassis and floor pan structure than try to push the transmission and suspension up through the chassis rails..


    I think mines low enough, it just misses all the speed bumps by about 20mm om the way down...the bottom of the silencer is fairly bashed in..

As this has been the plan for a while last year when I built the engine I notched the rear chassis and Iv spoke with some chaos at slambasador and he has type 4 on bags and raised engine he says he can nearly get box to touch still changing gears ok . Bit of not I’ll have to mod the rod to suit

Shall raise gearbox mount a bit today and see how much I can go up bit by bit on mount an inch or 40 mm on the mount I’m told gears still ok which at the rear is a lot more raise and should be more than enough then will have to mod the rear engine cross bar to fit inside the chassis rather than under neath but that’s nothing to dramatic measured them up all ready and befor removal!!
    Fair bit of research done to this point as not many folk air bag type 4 engines and have og heating which I’m keen to keep as its bliss driving in winter with heating on , allso going to ninove in March !!
    The bags Iv got will lift 2500lbs each so there more than enough with all the gear I Cary abroad

  14. Ha ha I’m at work today normally have an hour or 2 up unit on way home mate but all new to me this body drop and slamming so takes a lot of moving this and fetling that so u can see where it all will sit

As I’m Slamming it on air ride and drive it really low I hit engine a lot and struggled getting on ferry’s this year few times so by raising the engine (body drop allso known) inside chassis it gives me a lot more clearance , will allso be doing the same with front beam raising it 3/4 inches to as my beam eats the road

    Pretty sure dropping the body and raising the engines are 2 different things?!
