  1. checked oil in the beetle last night emulsion on the filler cap, hose between the filler and the air filter . She does Basingstoke to Frimley and back again 5 days a week at a steady 55 mph much to the annoyance of lorry drivers [sorry lads]always roll a fag while she,s warming up in the morning and the same at night. The only thing i did change was the make of oil, Halford vintage from morris about 2 months ago its never done this before couldn't get to just J K in time and was working in brum or is something else wrong with the old girl. Just changing back to morris at this very moment, the better half and my son have got colds maybe the car caught it as well Paul

  2. The whitish emulsified oil is just a byproduct of cool running. Nothing wrong with your engine.

Its usually water in the oil that causes this , as we don't use water i can only assume there was water in halfords oil when you bought it --

i worked in waste oil collection for a while and this is not as uncommon as you might think , i haave collected thousands of gallons of new oil thats been contaminated with good old h2o , we used to let it settle in the tank , pull over a drain , open the drain tap let the water out and at the first sign of oil stop , do this twice and we got the best price for our waste oil :).

  4. :yeah that: and some different make's of oil's do have a bit of water in and can produce this and alot of people misdiagnose this as a headgasket prob and cost themselves alot of money! 8)

  5. any other forum and i would say your head gasket has gone

    no problem here

    Condensation?

Blocked breather? (don't even know if you have breathers on these engines!)

  8. Wipe it out and forget amout it. It's just atmospheric moisture reacting with the oil. Good runs will cure it.

Best to drive straight off in the mornings.

  11. I heard it was a misconception that you had to let it warm up, and that goes for all cars.

  13. Only steam turbines need warming through first and there haven't been many cars fitted with them ..as far as I know. ;D

  14. Thought that's what early Bays had :)...
