Any electronic ignition module you can afford two of : one to run and one as a spare, or at least keep a working set of points and a condenser and feeler gauges with you..

All of the electronic ones work better than points and never need adjustment after first installation until they stop working in bizarre intermittent ways,
or you suffer the brain fail and wire them black to black and red to the other end of the coil..
Accuspark seem OK to me - I am pretty sure I damaged my first one by testing for spark with a one inch gap between the lead and earth instead of using a spare plug as a spark gap.

I also was quite happy with a Pertronix until I wired it backwards in a hurry then I bought an Accuspark as it cost half as much for the same function.

The one problem common to the Accuspark and the Pertronix is that the silicon switch devices inside dont act perfectly as a switch and keep about a volt drop across the 'points' So they tend to warm up, and coupled with a hot running engine they can start going strange.

  6. Buy the petronix igniter 2 as you can wire it backwards and not destroy it

This is why I switched to the 123, probably not a real problem in the U.K. but it certainly is here in Oz.

  9. I've had a Pertronix mk 1 for 11 years. It never needs adjusting, though I check it from time to time. At the last check this week I inadvertently left the ignition on for several hours, so much so that the battery ran down.

I really expected the Pertronix to have burned out - that was one of the dire warnings I got about the downside of the mk 1 version. I can report it's fine. I also went and had my battery checked and that's good too.

  12. I had a Petronix for 6 years also no problems with it. If I had to get one again that's what i would go for.

  13. I've had an Accuspark one on for a couple of years which replaced a Petronix one which failed.

  15. My accuspark is fine. It does seem that recently their build quality is not as good. Now, where have we all heard that before?
