When i first got the bus i wasent keen on where the heater sat so i removed it and was going to replace it with a propex Times have changed and i cant afford a propex nowadays lol I wasent keen on the fact that a top hat had been removed to fit it but the idea of heat in the bus whilst winter camping is changing my mind
Top hats - who needs them! I'd rather be warm. We have two MOT inspectors. One's an old boy who knows his onions. The other is cautious. While the old boy was on his hols, cautious failed a bus on sills, jacking points, outriggers. To be fair, the sills were virtually non-existent and cust wanted them doing anyway, but I was chatting to Old boy today about it. He said - "bloody idiot - that's not a fail - they don't do anything - you could chop them right off and it should still pass".
Well after driving the mrs to work and doing two school runs yesterday with no heating in the daily drive I think the heater will be getting a spruce up and re fitted Ill take some pics and post them up after ive taken the young un to nursery
Have been watching this thread with interest, as I haven't decided on what type of heating to fit in the bus once I have some interior fitted. Is great to hear all these views. Quick newbie questions though, what is a Top Hat? Probably doesn't really matter, but was just interested to know.
Anyone with common sense can fit a propex. There is no legal requirement for particular qualifications. Follow the installation instructions and check the joins in the gas line with soapy water. I'm trial fitting my Eberspacher. I chopped out the spare wheel well to get it outof the living space and still have room for an extra battery. And made a cover for the top. Exhaust out through battery tray.
