No special tools required.
Best idea is take the kick panels and the front little belly pan off, have a look under to check all the necessary bits are there, and how the cables route.
Also check your rear end (fnarr fnarr) to see if the necessary fittings are present. Then you can be prepared with any extra bits you may need.
But really it's just a case of pulling the old cable out and pushing the new in. Although this is the bit where some people grind to a halt as the cable is jammed in the conduit, i was lucky!
It could be awkward getting under the dash and fettling the clips etc but i found it easy enough, as i say a recce mission under there will help
