Door seals

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Thom3, Dec 7, 2018.

  1. Planning to change my original door seals tomorrow. I've got the nice, grey, soft expensive replacements...so hopefully they fit!

Just wondered if I need to use contact adhesive or anything like that, or should the replacements fit without any gluing?

    And any general tips?

As ever, any help is hugely appreciated!

They just need a bit of contact glue down the front edge of the door near the check strap, as there is no retaining channel.

The rest just squashes nicely into the door. line the corners up first, so you don't stretch it round as you go.

I think I disconnected the check straps too when I did mine.

    Was that for freer movement?

Yep, you have to disconnect it to get the seal past it.

  8. Did you start the corners first?

  9. Yep, corners first, our they'll stretch like mad.

  10. Yep, corners first, very careful not to stretch them at all. They were way out. I've got a couple of vids on my phone, I'll try to post later.
