Board mate - press it against the fireplace hole - much easier than trying to hold up a blanket while you roger the chimney. Remember as well that it'll be covered with soot so you can keep it small and easy to clean. What would you do without me. :)

  5. It wasent derogitory against you zed

Ive lost a lot of people for someone of my age and ive learnt you just have to carry on regardless
Plus one of the best ways of learning is having a go yourself and making mistakes

  6. Wait till santa visits... ;D

I do my own, but in France you need a certificate that it`s done proffessionally or the insurance will not pay out if your house burns down...

i'm quite supprised there are still a few with open fires to be honest, we went smokeless round here years ago which is ironic when rugeley power station is about 3 mile away......don't think i've seen a open fire for years round here, wish i could get a log burner 'cos the amount of wood i could get from work and cannock chase would see me heat for free but my house hasn't got a chimney, just a flue for the gas fire (which is one of them pretend coal gas ones - and it don't work it keeps going pop! and blowing out) but i'm not gonna get it fixed the price of gas means it's too dear to run anyway.

just make sure you do it properly buddy, i've seen too many houses go up in smoke due to poorly cleaned chimneys. a pro may only take 20 mins but they know what they're doing (generally) do it twice a year for piece of mind, if you are burning sappy or crappy wood do it more often. be safe buddy. i've had to go to far too many chimney fires and would hate to see you have one!

Since moving up north it seems everything is far over priced or just not available locally
When i come to camperjam next year im bringing the trailer and going to tfm to stock up on supplies

If you reset all the clocks to the 24th December and be good all year then Santa will come sort it for you.

I used this method to aplomb to conquer the millennium bug, people laughed but did i loose everything on New Years Eve?!

No, whilst planes dropped from the sky, power stations broke and heart machines switched themselves off - my stash of porn and 'work' were safe....come to think of it, I am well ahead of the curve for the next one..
