  1. How quaint.

When I was young, Jenkins used to drive me to school in the Bentley.

But now it’s Parker driving you to school in the 6-wheeled pink Rolls?

Hillman Minx. My only memory of an hillman minx is the lady manageress owned one in the fruit and veg shop I worked at and she would always give me a lift home when we worked late on a Friday. She was always very suggestive, but I never had the nerve at that age 16.

That brings back memories. I started my YTS in August 1985. Can’t remember my first job though.

My dad had an Anglia van which he borrowed from my grandad but never took back. He also had a Morris traveller with big holes in the floor. I remember watching the road through them. Happy days.

  11. Yes i did a YTS year 1 £29.50 a week year 2 £32 a week
then the company kept me on for year 3 not on a YTS £95

i hate the word YTS because the employer got £80 a WEEK Joke! to make-up money i worked weekend's learning mastering my trade.

I bumped into my old bosses and said shame on you! if your son wants to learn from a proper tradesman he can work for me for £29.50 a week:lol:

My Grandma and Grandad had an old Austin 1100 like the one in the photo..... horrible be1ge thing it was!
I should've had a Morris Traveller as my first car, but my Dad ran out of time and enthusiasm for the restoration (started 2 years in advance of my 17th birthday) and it eventually got sold to a family friend when I was in my mid 20s! (It has since been restored, and I don't 'arf fancy getting it back one day)
Is that a Mk 2 Zephyr in one of the pictures? That was originally going to be my mid life crisis car, having loved the one my friends parents had when we were kids in the 70s. Somehow I ended up with a late bay instead...…. :)

My first car was a HB Viva - can't remember the full reg, it was a G. The second was a Chevette. Both were cast offs from my granny

My first placement was crown tours garages, a coach and bus firm here in Frome. My ‘Saturday job’ there to earn an extra £20.00, was to get up under the buses and pressure wash them. My normal YTS wage, was £26.25 a week. I was loaded at 16! Hexagon night club twice a week, fill me 50cc up twice with 2 star(£2.50 each time), give me mum a tenner, and wasted the rest!
