Devon Roof Hammocks, does anyone have a picture so I know how they fit???

  1. Hi folks, I'm trying to source and fit some hammocks back into a 74 Devon conversion I've just bought, the previous owner did away with them and so far I have managed to source one. I notice they are wider at one end than the other and am hoping for a little help.

Can anyone tell me when they are fitted are they designed to be one head at the front and one at the rear so the gap in the centre is the same or do they fit both with the wider head ends both at either the front of back of the van so the gap is more like a V shape??

If anyone has pics of them installed that would be great, and also pics of the fittings where they hang from, I notice the bar that pulls out has a hooked bar and wanted to know what this actually hangs from, is it the frame or is there ment to be something attached to the roof frame for it to hook to???

    Thanks in advance all.

  2. It's heads and feet the same way so there's a bigger gap at one end to climb up. I think it's head at the front but it's years since i unpacked mine. I wouldn't recomend them for anyone over 5st, it was a scarey experience when i tried. I'll see if i can find a pic.

Edit. Just noticed from pics that it's head at rear.

I think i've got a devon bunk somewhere if you're interested.

  4. Thanks for that, helps loads. I'll need to pull the head lining back and see what if the brackets are still under there or if they've been removed. If they've been removed I'll need to try to source some or speak to a ironmonger about possibly making some then.

If you've got a spare bunk and the metal work is solid please let me know how much your wanting for it then please and we'll take it from there. The one I've got already needs a new canvas so thats not a problem if its not great.

Am only planning on using them for my daughter occasionally and she only small so hopefully will be ok, other than that they just decorative extra weight to lug about lol.

    Thanks again.

  5. Thanks for the k+ :)
I'll have a look next week to check what condition they're in and let you know.
